Western Rother Fishery Habitat Enhancement Project (Catchment Restoration Fund)

In 2013 ARRT working in partnership with the Wild Trout Trust (WTT) were successful in their bid to deliver key habitat improvement works to the Western Rother at Shopham via the Catchment Restoration Fund, hosted by the Environment Agency on behalf of DEFRA (Dept. of the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs). This work, which was carried out over the last couple of years, is now completed and a full review can be viewed in our Library HERE.

The Project Briefing Notes which were submitted for this improvement work can be viewed HERE

A PhD student, Jenny Cox, from the University of Portsmouth has also been tracking the movement and various geomorphological impacts of the new Rother riffle as part of her doctorate studies. Jenny presented her initial research findings at the 2015 River Restoration Conference, the full presentation can be found online at: https://goo.gl/BzEGkP
